1979 RHD Range Rover 2 Door — ex Colin Chapman

Sold

Vehicle Description

I’ve known this Range Rover a long time now. She is 1979 registered (factory XOK registration) RHD export model. It was supplied by the Land Rover factory directly to Colin Chapman of Lotus Cars Ltd and stayed with Lotus/Chapman's family for 13 years.

02/02/79 - Application to register by the Senior Clerk of the Personal Exports Department, BL Cars Ltd, Longbridge at the Birmingham VRO.

06/02/79 - The car was registered to Mr ACB Chapman of Lotus Cars Ltd with the number XOK 567T. (I also have the heritage certificate and all the old V5c documents to prove the ownership).

20/12/84 - ownership was transferred into the name of Team Lotus International Ltd, Ketteringham Hall, Wymondham.

31/01/85 - ownership was transferred by Team Lotus International to Hethel Properties Ltd, Ketteringham Hall, Wymondham.

28/09/92 - Hethel Properties Ltd transferred ownership to David Adams of Norwich, NR13.

04/06/93 - Sold to Mr P of Norwich, NR8.

02/03/04 - Sold to Mr A of Norwich, NR5.

I bought the car and put it back to the correct specification. The exterior has been repainted to an exacting standard by ourselves but the interior remains totally original and the mileage of 41455 is believed to be correct as validated by the MOT certificates.

She now lives in a heated garage and has had thousands of pounds lavished on her but has not been restored as she has always been kept in super condition but literally everything has been done to make this a fully reliable useable vehicle. I have a huge amount of receipts to prove the expenditure.

The bodywork is as you would expect in very good condition but until you see it you won’t believe how good it is! It has been regularly Waxoyled from new. The interior, as well as the headlining, is spotless, the inner and outer sills have been replaced as have the inner front wings, the floors are all good with original rubber mats and original carpet overlays. She also has a heated screen, I have also fitted an H4 Halogen headlight conversion behind period Wood and Picket light guards, which finishes the look externally.

The brakes have been fully rebuilt with stainless pistons and aero quip lines. New discs and all bearings and suspension joints replaced. Transfer box internals replaced with LSE cogs to give a more economical drive. No oil leaks from underneath. The original engine holds very good oil pressure and has only done about 4000 miles since it was fully rebuilt. All the seats are original and everything is present including the brittle bits and all the impossible to find rubbers are new!

New old stock parts have been used whenever possible and she drives as tight and as good as new - a cast iron investment which you can enjoy.
