1976 Range Rover Classic Suffix D

Description

There is something particularly special about an early two-door Range Rover and this 1976 Suffix D is a wonderful example of everything that makes these cars so appealing. Finished in Lincoln Green and showing just 92,000 miles, she is in remarkable condition, beautifully presented and more importantly, an absolute delight to drive. In fact, she is one of the most pleasurable Suffix cars we've had the opportunity to experience.

Powered by the original 3.5-litre V8 carburettor engine and paired with the four-speed manual gearbox, she delivers that wonderfully authentic early Range Rover driving experience.

Her history is equally impressive. Accompanying the car is an extensive collection of records and receipts dating all the way back to the original purchase receipt from Archers (Shirley) Ltd in September 1976, right through to the present day. The file also includes a Heritage Certificate, providing a fascinating record of her provenance.

In 2006/07, having covered approximately 75,000 miles, the car underwent a substantial programme of refurbishment and mechanical attention. This included fresh exterior paintwork, a galvanised chassis, a complete chassis overhaul and rust proofing, rebuilt gearbox, extensive engine servicing, carburettor rebuild, new carpets, stainless steel exhaust and replacement of all external fixtures and fittings.

Since that comprehensive programme, she has covered a little under 15,000 miles over almost two decades, with the condition of the vehicle reflecting what has clearly been very careful and light use.

In 2024, she visited Kingsley for the first time for a service and further refresh, which included retrimming the front seats in beautiful Herringbone cloth and the addition of a cubby box.

Solid, honest and exceptionally well preserved, this is a genuine gem of an early Range Rover.

Supported by an outstanding history file and offering a driving experience that is increasingly difficult to find, she represents a particularly special opportunity to acquire a beautifully kept example of one of Land Rover's most iconic models.
